Creating a Charging Rate product with a different tax rate to the rest

Introduction

Charge Rate products will use the base Tax rate when they are created, unless you set them in a specific way. If you charge 20% tax on berthing products, but you need to charge a different rate or no tax at all on just one, you need to follow the instructions below to effectively set up the product. 

How do I Create a Charging Rate product with a different tax rate to the rest?

1) Open Setup Charge Types
2) Select Add and complete the fields:
  1. Charge Type - Enter a short name identifier that relates to the product
  2. Description - A short description of the item
  3. Vat Code - Select correct VAT/Tax rate from drop-down list
  4. Make available for selection - Enables the charge type to be used
  5. N/L Codes - Enter the appropriate nominal code
3) Select Save

      

4) Open Setup Charge Rates
5) Click + to add a new charge rate, select Resident or Visitor. Enter description and other fields as required. 
6) In the Invoice as field, enter the Charge Type name you set in step 2. 
7) Complete Detail section and charges. Save on completion
