Quick Intro
As we regularly update Havenstar with new functionality, feature enhancements, bug fixes, security patches, and backend improvements, you may occasionally need to upgrade your Havenstar installation to the latest version. Most updates are delivered automatically with no disruption to your day-to-day operations. However, some major releases require manual installation by our Support Team to ensure new features and significant changes are applied correctly. This article explains the different types of updates and how to check whether your system is running the latest supported version.
Minor Upgrades
Small improvements and bug fixes are regularly delivered automatically, via our built-in Auto Updater. These are downloaded and installed in the background, with no downtime or disruption to you and your team.
You may notice a progress bar in the bottom-right of the main Havenstar window when you start up. This will let you know when an automatic update has been detected and download. The next time you start Havenstar, you will receive a notification that an update has been applied, and that the Release Notes are available, if you want to see what's changed.
Major Upgrades
Major system upgrades typically contain larger enhancements and new features, as well as other smaller improvements bug fixes. These require installation by our Support Team. Typically, these upgrades take around 30-60 minutes to complete, and during this time, you won't be able to use Havenstar. As such, you'll need to schedule these in advance with the Support Team, at a suitable time so as to minimise disruption.
Our Long Term Support (LTS) program is designed to minimise the number of times you need to go through a Major Upgrade each year.
