Using the Nav Bar Search

Using the Nav Bar Search

Searching using the Nav Bar

Quick Intro

The Nav Bar search function automatically searches for different records based on what's typed in. It can be used to find boats, accounts, invoices, and also Havenstar screens/functions.

Simply click into the search box, type in what you're looking for. After a brief delay, the search will begin automatically.

The results will appear next to the Nav Bar. Your search term may match multiple record types - for example, "Smith" may match the customer John Smith, as well as the boat WAVESMITH. In this case, the results will be grouped under a heading indicating what type of record it is.

If the record you're looking for isn't there, it may be further down the list. Click the Show More button to focus on that record type, and display more results from that group, in batches of 10.

Selecting a Result

Clicking on the search result will "activate" that record, although what this does depends on what type of record it is:
  1. Boats and Accounts - this will simply set that boat as the Active Boat, and their information will appear in the Active Boat Bar at the top of your main Havenstar screen.
  2. Actions - this will open the selected Havenstar screen, just like if you'd selected it normally from your Nav Bar.
  3. Invoices - this will open the Preview Invoice screen, so that you can view the invoice document, and also set the relevant boat as the Active Boat.

Notes & Tips

  1. Accounts will match on a number of fields, including name, account code, email address, and email car registration number.
  2. Most records will partial-match, so if you slightly mispell something, your record may still come up. However, when searching for invoices, you must enter the exact invoice number.
  3. You can press the ENTER key to start a search immediately, without delay, and pressing the ESC key cancels a search/closes the results window.
  4. If you search for, and select, an Action that is not already assigned to you in your Nav Bar, you may be prompted for a password to authorise this.
